Driftwood Diner

The Driftwood Diner is a game environment I made during the portfolio course at The Game Assembly. It’s set on the Oregon coast and inspired by roadside diners, coastal towns, and the kind of weird, quiet atmosphere you’d find in a place like Twin Peaks.

The diner catches its own seafood from a fishing shack just across the road, and there’s a neon crab sign out front. I wanted the place to feel a bit like a fever dream. familiar, but slightly off. Like something you’d drive past late at night and not be sure later if it was real.

I used a mix of procedural tools and manual work, depending on what made sense for each part. My focus was mostly on mood and getting that in-between feeling right Somewhere between grounded and surreal.

I'd like to give a massive thanks to my classmates and mentors for giving me feedback and support!:)

A more thorough breakdown of the scene can soon be found in my separate breakdown post that's currently in a WIP State.

a few materials and assets are from Fab, as well as most of the foliage.
